Commercial Opportunity: Digital Media Games Ireland
The Irish mobile entertainment market (games, tones, pictures, and video) is worth between 40 and 50 million euros. Approximately half of this content is sold by the mobile operators (02, Vodafone, Meteor and 3) with the other half being sold by independent mobile retailers through newspaper ads and online via Web sites.
The largest segment of the market is downloadable ringtones, followed by mobile pictures and then mobile games. Apart from news and video (GAA) content, the vast majority of the content is non-Irish generic content (international TV and music stars, etc). For mobile games, less than 5% are Irish themed or feature Irish media.
There is a definite demand from our distribution partners for Irish sports content that can be translated into commercial mobile content.
mygame.ie is an Irish mobile entertainment software developer and publisher. The company develops and hosts;
• mobile games
• mobile video
• ringtones (realtones and polyphonic)
• mobile wallpapers/pictures
• mobile magazines

Twilight and the X Factor
The Irish premier of Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1. So I’m guessing there is a Part 2. Now that Vampires and Werewolves are the new pop stars, will we see them on the X Factor. And what about Simon Cowell – is he a vampire or werewolf….or the Son of Frankenstein….come on, there is a certain resemblance…
Election Day: Irish Video Game Industry
Im reading a lot in the press recently about the video games industry. Despite the hype, like most sector of the Irish IT industry, it is dominated by international players. Not a bad thing at all. However the number of indigenous game developers is tiny. Having been one of them for a while, I can speak with some authority on this. Owing to the costs of tradition game development, the rise of casual games, on platforms such as iPhone and Facebook, offers good opportunities for start-up Irish game developers. Hopefully I’ll get time to publish some articles on our experiences, what worked and what did not work.
Android Games: Irish players experience
Just played the RPG Pocket Legends on my Xperia 10. Really cool Android rpg game, easy to play and control. Standard hack and slash and levelling up gameplay. Graphics were pretty good though the first free level was a bit too small. Come on Irish mobile players, let us know if you have come across any really good Android games.
Thanks to fyi. on 3e
We got a nice mention for Kung Fu Fianna on the Buzz section on fyi, 3e’s news and media affairs program. I love their top 5 downloads each day. Perfect viewing between Family Guy and The Cleveland show. Great show guys!
Kung Fu Fianna live
Enda Kenny and the lads show off their fighting skills in this 2011 Irish Election special political game. The bondholders are worried and are sending their toughest negotiators; the Ninja Bondholders Bunnies. See which of our politicians can best defend the country; roll up your sleeves Michael Martin, Eamonn Gilmore, Enda Kenny or John Gormley. Btw we equally unsupport all of the parties: Fianna Fail, Fine Gael, Labour, Greens and Sinn Fein but we will still vote on the 25th; Monster Raving Looney Party aka….

The Irish General Election 2011 – The Game
Street Fighter comes to Irish politics. Hopefully we’ll get our election game out before the whole thing is over. So you are an undecided voter. Our game should help you. You can choose to play as one of our magnificent political leaders and see how they fare in defending Ireland against the bond holders and the IMF. Coming real soon.
Fine Gael ads on our site
Hmm, just noticed that our Google ads are running lots of Fine Gael ads. Just in case you are wondering, we are completely apolitical and have equal mistrust of all the parties. Ah elections, a vital part in the appearance of democracy. Anyway Fianna Fail, Labour and Sinn Fein are all welcome to puts party political broadcasts on our site – our advertising rates are very reasonable, especially if your party is low in the opinion polls. Our advice: to quote Charlton Heston from the famous film Planet of the Apes starring “Don’t trust anyone over 30” So get out there and vote on election day!
Site Launched
Woo hoo, mygame.ie beta (big time beta) is finally live. Beta as in we’ve only a few Irish or custom games on the site yet. However we’ll be updating fairly regularly so keep with us. Besides our own games and content, we are looking for other Irish Flash and Web developers to showcase their work. So if you have a game or animation and want it plugged, drop us a line.
